Before You Join The Hive: FAQs
We believe transparency is the foundation of every successful partnership.
These FAQs were created to answer the most common questions we receive from group practices nationwide — so your team can make an informed, confident decision about joining the Hive.
- 01
GBBS partners exclusively with practices in the mental health field. Our structure, systems, and pricing are designed for multi-provider teams that value a high-level, agency-style partnership. Though GBBS does take on a limited number of solo clinicians who run their practice like a business and want a long-term, strategic billing partner. If that’s you, feel free to fill out our contact form or book a discovery call.

Golden Bee Billing Services specializes in behavioral and mental health group practices, including therapy, psychiatry, and psychology.
Our team is highly experienced in mental health billing and understands the detailed coding, documentation, and compliance requirements that protect your revenue and ensure clean claims.
We also support select wellness and integrative health groups that include behavioral or mental health services as part of their care model, as long as their billing structure aligns with our compliance and system standards.
If your practice values structure, data integrity, and reliable billing outcomes, we’re the right fit.
- 03
Onboarding typically takes about 2–4 weeks, depending on your practice size and payer mix. We don’t begin setup until your contract is signed and the onboarding fee is received, ensuring everything is built accurately and securely from day one. During this time, The Hive completes your payer mapping, system configuration, and readiness checks so billing can begin smoothly and without disruption.
- 04
Yes — GBBS specializes in seamless transitions from previous billers or in-house systems. During onboarding, we review your current setup, verify payer enrollments, and rebuild clean, organized workflows in our secure platform. Our goal is to make the switch as smooth as possible while protecting your data, claims, and revenue continuity.

GBBS uses either Tebra or SimplePractice, depending on the size and structure of your practice. Most of our group practices are billed through Tebra, which allows us to maintain consistency, compliance, and full oversight of claim activity.
We still connect directly with your EHR to gather appointment details, verify sessions, and reconcile payer data — so your clinical workflow stays exactly the same. You don’t have to change how you chart or schedule; we simply pull what’s needed to keep billing accurate and up to date.
If your plan includes patient billing and collections, those statements are processed directly through your EHR’s system so patients continue seeing familiar communications and payment portals.
This hybrid approach gives your team transparency, keeps your data secure, and allows GBBS to handle the technical side efficiently — all without disrupting your daily operations.
- 07
Your onboarding fee covers full system setup, payer mapping, provider and clearinghouse configuration, eligibility integrations, and staff alignment before billing begins. It ensures your practice starts clean, compliant, and fully optimized. The onboarding fee and first month of service are both due at contract signing to secure your onboarding slot and confirm your start date.

- 09
Yes — GBBS provides credentialing and payer enrollment support exclusively for active RCM clients. We do not offer credentialing as a stand-alone service. This ensures our team can manage enrollments efficiently, maintain data accuracy, and complete payer setups that align seamlessly with your billing workflows.

- 11
Once your Service Agreement is signed and both the onboarding fee and first month of service are paid, your onboarding officially begins.
Start dates are scheduled based on availability, typically within 5–14 business days after contract completion. Practices using unsupported systems do not need to switch to Tebra or SimplePractice, but all billing will be completed through one of those platforms for accuracy, compliance, and reporting consistency.
- 12
GBBS currently provides billing services exclusively through Tebra and SimplePractice. These platforms align with our internal systems, compliance standards, and reporting structure.
We do not offer billing services through other EHRs or third-party platforms. Practices using other systems are welcome to transition to one of our supported platforms during onboarding for full compatibility and accuracy.

Yes. GBBS offers structured discovery calls for qualified group practices interested in exploring partnership opportunities.
A discovery call is an opportunity for both sides to evaluate fit — not an interview, test, or consultation. During this call, we’ll review your current billing setup, discuss your provider count, systems, and goals, and outline how GBBS structures services for multi-provider mental health groups.
We’ll also answer general questions about our process, technology requirements, and partnership expectations so you can clearly understand what working with our team looks like.
If there’s alignment, GBBS will provide a formal proposal or Service Agreement draft that outlines onboarding steps, fees, and timelines.
If the practice’s needs fall outside of our structure, we’ll kindly decline and may offer referral guidance if appropriate — but we do not provide coaching, troubleshooting, or credentialing support outside of an active RCM partnership.
